Imoni Akpofure

Imoni Akpofure is a non-executive Director of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and a Trustee on the Boards of the Engineers in Business Fellowship, UK, and the Gamaliel & Susan Onosode Foundation (GAMSU), Nigeria.. She also serves on the Investment Committees of Africa50 and the Fund for Agricultural Finance in Nigeria (FAFIN). Ms. Akpofure has over 30 years of experience as a finance and sustainability professional in both developed and developing countries, particularly in Africa. 

Prior to her present roles, she was Regional Director for Africa at CDC Group Plc, where she focused on investments in West and Lusophone Africa, and a Senior Associate with KINA Advisory Ltd, a UK-based socio-economic advisory firm. From 1995-2013 she worked at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), rising to the rank of Director for Western Europe. She also held senior positions in IFC’s Infrastructure, Environment and Social, and Global Manufacturing and Services departments, and regional positions in west and southern Africa. Before joining IFC she practiced as a chartered civil engineer in the UK. 

Ms. Akpofure holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College, London, a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Newcastle University, London and an MBA from INSEAD.
