Africa50 Senior Director of Risk Anne Ranasinghe spoke at EBII Africa Risk and Compliance Summit

Ms. Anne Ranasinghe spoke in a panel on “Conducting Investment due diligence in Africa, post COVID-19 ” organized by EBII, a start-up funded by an Oxford University incubator. The event addressed how Africa can attract and sustain investment post Covid-19, as well as provide up to date risk perspectives for current and new practitioners. Other speakers on the panel included Asie Arkhurst, Manager, Capital Management, Ecobank and Emmanuel Nambware, Executive Director, Fixed Income and Capital Markets, Matha Capital.
The speakers addressed the following questions.
- The relevance of culture, political environments, economy, legal systems, local knowledge, and networks, and leveraging them in meeting the targets of the SDGs as part of an investment strategy in Africa.
- The importance of integrating ESG factors into investments in Africa.
